During a recent trip to Winnipeg, he decided to visit The University of Manitoba, his old Alma Mater, where he spent a great deal of time in the Parker Building working on his PhD. That's where he heard about this game called geocaching, and he thought he'd place a geocache and give the coordinates to his friend Sherlock to see if he could find it. Of course, he couldn't make it that simple - this was Sherlock Holmes after all - one of the greatest detectives of all time. So Dr. Watson devised a plan to disguise the coordinates in a way that he could remember easily: IN CD N RU BK O LI ZN Sherlock Holmes was able to decypher this message and find this cache, can you? This cache was created to add to the number of QUALITY caches hidden in Manitoba. It is an official cache in the MBGA Cache Splash event. Category 4: Puzzle cache hide. I must admit, this was quite the puzzle. As per expected though, it was one of those "Ohhhh, of COURSE" type of puzzles, where you're completely boggled for like... ever and a day, and then you suddenly get it... and all is good .

But yes... after one of those "eureka" moments (moments after a slight push in the right direction from my old partner-in-crime, BBrown94), I quickly obtained the coordinates. Unfortunately however, due to a distinct lack of time, I had to put it off until today. As an added bonus, I managed to get my fiancee and a friend to come with me for the trip! Mental note: Night-Red (the friend, not the fiancee ) seems to be quite good at pathfinding, as he found the easy way to get out of the cache location... given we took a significantly-harder-than-needed path to get TO it .

But I loved the path we took regardless. Albeit the area looks like it could use a bit of cleaning, as mentioned by the other cachers, it looks like most, if not all of it was placed there by a drainage culvert. Seriously, the U of M should put a grating of some sort in there, and clean it out every so often. Wouldn't be hard, either... basically just a box made out of grating (about 1 or 2-inch slots in the grating), but with an open top, so that once a month or whatever they could just reach in and shovel it all into a garbage bag. But alas... somehow I doubt the U of M would consider spending a few bucks on some re-bar .

But a fun adventure, and a fun puzzle. Thanks for the outing .
